The City Technology guides began with ideas that teachers helped us develop. These were ideas on mechanisms, mapping, environments, packaging, and symbols. The ideas finally worked their way into guides as lesson plans and as the stories of teachers who developed the plans.
We invite you to join us as we develop some new ideas based on everyday technologies. We begin with the technology of fastening with tape. Of course the technologies of fastening go far beyond tape, but this is just a beginning.
The links give beginning points for analysis and design activities using tape. If any of these ideas are intriguing to you, try them out and let us know what happened. How did you adapt the ideas to work in your class? What did you add to them? What kinds of things did the kids do? Send us your story and plans you would like to share with others. |
