Fliptoy: Materials

Show results instructions for:

Materials

  • Two long wooden sticks with the same size and shape, with flat sides.
  • Examples:
  • Top 3 rows: Three sizes of craft sticks (popsicle stick and tongue depressors) of corrugated cardboard to separate sticks and allow them to rotate slightly.
  • 4th row: Wooden ruler
  • Bottom row: paint-mixing stick

Materials for Large Toy

  • One spacer (fulcrum or spring) to separate sticks and allow them to rotate slightly.
  • Examples:
  • Top 3 rows: Plastic lids (left to right) from pill bottle, large glue stick, water bottle, small glue stick, hand sanitizer vial of corrugated cardboard to separate sticks and allow them to rotate slightly.
  • Bottom two row: strips of cardboard, cut with ridges running cross-wise, folded accordion-style
  • Note: The height of this item should roughly match the width of the sticks.

Materials for Large Toy

  • One clothespin Use larger clothespin for longer sticks, and smaller clothespin for shorter ones

  • Tape Clockwise from top left: transparent, foam mounting, masking.

  • Cotton string or yarn, cut to 1 foot and tied into loop
  • Two loops are shown; size of loop should be adjusted to make it work
